NFU Mutual Service Claims Team Join Us at the Garden of Wellbeing
The Garden of Wellbeing at Stratford‑upon‑Avon Hospital welcomed a brilliant team of volunteers from NFU Mutual’s Service Claims Department. The team of ten generously gave their time to support our charity and help enhance the therapeutic space we created and continue to maintain to give NHS staff, patients and hospital visitors a place to relax, restore their wellbeing, reduce stress and feel the proven benefits of spending time in nature within a hospital setting.
Their enthusiasm made a real impact. They painted the picket fence that surrounds the entrance to the garden in a calming Silver Copse shade, helping the colours of the planting stand out more vividly and giving the whole space a more welcoming feel. They also refreshed the wooden gazebos with a new coat of paint, brightening them up and helping to protect the structures so they can be enjoyed for years to come. They also helped prepare our new raised beds by lining the insides to protect the wood, meaning they’re now ready to be positioned, filled with compost and planted up to create even more colour and interest to one of our gardens.
Alongside this, they carried out a host of beneficial gardening tasks, including propagating rosemary from cuttings that will grow on and be used throughout the garden, and planting winter violas in the living walls at the entrance to the car park to bring vibrant, colourful cheer from autumn through winter.
The team also had time for weeding, pruning and watering across the site, giving the garden the care it needs to thrive. To finish the day, they painted some of the large rocks we had dug out of the ground, transforming them into decorative pieces that add artistic charm and a playful splash of colour to our display at the entrance.
We are incredibly grateful for all of their hard work and support. A special thank you goes to Becky Palmer for organising the day and helping make it such a positive and productive experience with her and the NFU team.
