Get Active In Nature

walking, wellbeing and connection in the great outdoors

Get Active In Nature is our total body walking programme we deliver in Stratford‑upon‑Avon. It offers a simple, welcoming way for people to enjoy movement in nature, build confidence and feel part of a supportive community. Our walking sessions use specially designed WALX poles to improve posture, reduce pressure on joints and engage more of the body with every step, making it an accessible and uplifting form of exercise for a wide range of abilities.

Walking in nature brings its own benefits too. Fresh air, green space and gentle movement help reduce stress, lift mood and support mental wellbeing. Many people tell us they feel calmer, more energised and more connected after a session. Alongside the walking, we also pause for moments of meditation and sensory‑based activities that help people slow down, breathe and feel grounded in their surroundings.

As an official WALX provider for Stratford-upon-Avon, we are proud to offer friendly, inclusive groups where everyone is encouraged, supported and welcomed exactly as they are. Whether you want to become more active, meet new people or simply enjoy time outdoors, you can join one of our groups and experience the difference Nordic walking can make.

A word from some of our group members:

“There are four main factors that are important when you get older and they are: socialising, exercise, being responsible with diet and reducing bad habits. Coming here allows me to get two of those four factors in as I get fresh air, conversation and exercise”

“This group has really helped with my walking ability. Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, I had found it difficult to move like I used to but Forest of Hearts have helped me improve my posture, leg movement, fitness and my mood”

“I’m not the biggest fan of going to the gym (for many reason) so I was so pleased to find this group. It gives me the opportunity to enjoy exercise, get outdoors in beautiful settings and meet new people from my community”
